Allie has always been fascinated by the subtle and intricate relationship between medical science, the individual and society. After graduating with a degree in Biology and Health Studies (including a defining semester abroad in Kenya) from Queen’s University, she went on to complete her Master’s of Science in
Human Genetics, with a certificate in Public Health Genetics/Genomics, at Sarah Lawrence College in New York. She is currently working as a Genetic Counselor in Toronto, Canada and is certified by the American Board of Genetic Counseling (ABGC) and the Canadian Association of Genetic Counsellors (CAGC). Most recently, Allie spearheaded the creation of DNA Exchange, a group genetic counseling blog. She is also an active member of the CAGC Horizon Scan Working Group, dedicated to identifying emerging areas of practice for genetic counselors in Canada.
Allie is gifted, big-hearted and curious. She has a bright sensibility about her, growing up the youngest of three girls (by 10 years) and spending formative years in Johannesburg, Montreal, and Greenwich, CT. Allie is a creative learner. She possesses a lovely singing voice – on display solo here, and on an a few recorded tracks with this band. Miscellaneous pleasures include photography, jewelry making, running, and Montreal bagels.

Hi Allie,
I stumbled upon your website when I was looking for images of pectus carinatum for my presentation on Marfan Syndrome. I’m a genetic counseling student at Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan but I’m originally from Toronto.
Your name doesn’t sound familiar, so I was wondering where you’re currently working. I will be doing a summer internship at SickKids this July and August to start getting an idea of what kind of genetic counseling network exists back home.
Any insights you might have are greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Sohnee
